Mission– to conduct cost effective/ climate smart research on soybean with minimal negative effect on the environment and dissemination of appropriate technologies for their optimal utilization.
Research focus- breeding for soybean improvement and development of viable technologies from production to utilization. (Soybean value chain).

- To maintain a soybean germplasm with adequate genetic diversity.
- To develop integrated pest management (IPM) measure in the management of pest and diseases of soybean.
- To develop and apply climate smart soybean production technologies that are economical viable.

- Registration and released of soybean varieties NCRISOY3E (TGx2024-7E) and NCRISOY4E (TGx2020-4E) in collaboration with IITA in 2022.
- Registration and released of soybean varieties NCRISOY1E (TGx1985-5F) and NCRISOY2E (TGx1989-19F) in collaboration with IITA in 2018.
